Meet The Judges – Janice Wald @MrsPaznanski

This week we launched the 2019 Bloggers Bash Blog post competition. Not only does the competition give you a chance to be part of this year’s event, but there are some great prizes up for grabs. Click here for all the details.

Our judges for this year’s competition are Gareth Stevens and Janice Wald. I was delighted to do a quick interview with both of them. Yesterday we talked to Gareth – click here to read the interview. Today we’re going to talk with Janice.

Thank you so much for accepting our invitation to be a judge for this year’s Bloggers Bash Blog post competition, Janice.

Where do you live?

I live in Santa Clarita, California. Santa Clarita is in Los Angeles County.

How long have you been blogging?

I started blogging in November 2014, so I’ve been blogging just over 4 years.

What first made you think about starting a blog?

Around the time my youngest was leaving for college, two life-changing events happened which contributed to my decision to start blogging. First, I received a Master’s Degree in Education. My professor convinced me I was a strong writer. Next, I saw the movie “Julie and Julia.” The film is about a blogger. With grown children leaving the home and new-found confidence in writing, starting a blog seemed like the logical choice. I also love helping people. All of these factors contributed to my decision. You can read more about my decision to start blogging by clicking here.

What kind of blog posts do you find the most interesting to read?

Blog posts that teach me how to blog better and how to empower my readers to be more successful bloggers: Blog posts about social media, blogging strategies, and SEO.

Have you ever judged a competition before?

Out of the classroom? Not that I recall.

What was it that made you accept the invitation to judge this year’s Bloggers Bash Blog post competition?

I am honoured! I am delighted the committee chose me. The thought of collaborating with the committee members thrilled me. Why? Many of them are my friends. Also, I greatly respect their purpose: put on an event that recognizes bloggers who work so hard and ask nothing in return but the opportunity to empower people with their knowledge.

Any thoughts, or tips in general that you can offer for those entering, or thinking about entering the competition?

Go for it! Hockey Hall of Famer Wayne Gretzky said, “You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.”

Thank you so much for answering our questions, Janice.

Yay, Janice! I’m excited that she is a judge for the Bloggers Bash this year, Hugh! Janice, you are such a dedicated and hard working blogger and we’ve known each other since about the time you started blogging! I was new at it then, too! Plus you are a busy educator and fellow Californian! Congrats to your success as a blogger over the years! You will be a terrific judge for the competition!
